Background and Credentials
Education and Cross-Disciplinary Background
Howshin Wang holds a master's degree from the Institute of Applied Mechanics at National Taiwan University. He started out in semiconductor packaging and computer thermal management, then moved into software development and web architecture, where he has worked for many years.
That background shapes how he works. Packaging and thermal design are fields where you measure first and decide afterwards, because thermal resistance, airflow and temperature rise do not change through reasoning and can only be measured. Visibility in search engines and generative engines behaves the same way: most outcomes cannot be traced back to a cause, and without baselines and repeated observation any attribution is a guess.
How methods transfer between fields has been a long-standing interest. The measurement and verification habits that engineering takes for granted are still uncommon in digital marketing, and that gap is where SEOBAR starts.
Invention Patent
Co-inventor of Taiwan (R.O.C.) invention patent I809962, a website building platform that helps improve search engine ranking. The patent term runs from July 21, 2023 to July 3, 2042.
Technical Book Translation
Since iOS 7 in 2013 he has translated Simon Ng's (AppCoda) iOS development series into Traditional Chinese, continuing through iOS 26 over thirteen years. Some early editions are out of print. He has also translated books on web design and programming education, dozens of titles in all. A few of them (Traditional Chinese editions):
- Beginning iOS 26 Programming with Swift and SwiftUI
- Beginning iOS 18 Programming with Swift and SwiftUI
- Mastering SwiftUI
- A hands-on guide to responsive web design
- Two Minecraft adventure novels for young readers (second volume)
- Two Minecraft building guides: wonders of the ancient world and mini-games
- Minecraft modding with Java
Research and Community
He began researching AI technology in 2022, has followed how generative search changes the way people find information since 2023, and since 2025 has focused his research on generative engine optimization (GEO).
He moderates the Facebook group "GEO Research Institute" (in Traditional Chinese), which runs a small AI search experiment every month and publishes the method, the sample size and what could and could not be measured.
Measurement Tools Built In-House
Each of these tools was built in-house and is used on our own sites and in client projects.
AI citation tracking
Samples generative engines with the kinds of questions ordinary consumers ask, records each full answer, its cited sources and the businesses mentioned, then classifies and counts them.
Scheduled test runs
Runs the same question set repeatedly across engines and over time to separate real change from the noise caused by random variation in answers.
Keyword and Search Console comparison
Puts real keyword search volume next to a site's existing impressions and positions to decide which keywords are worth pursuing.
Scheduled site checks
Regularly checks for broken images, dead links, blank pages and structured data errors so problems do not go unnoticed for months.
